Hello, my name is Jan, I am the lead coordinator of the “Ukraine Refugee Relief: PAH Support for refugees in Poland” fundraising effort, set up for refugees fleeing Ukraine and arriving in Poland to escape the humanitarian crimes which are being inflicted by the Russian invasion.

I was a refugee 40 years ago when I escaped Martial law in Poland in the early 80s, arriving at the refugee center in Latina, Italy; I know how it feels to leave your country and seek refuge in another that is why I’m spearheading this campaign.

Right now, people are waiting in lines several miles long, hungry, frightened, and in freezing temperatures, praying to reach the Polish border to find shelter. Unfortunately, the situation is drastically deteriorating with the vast increase in displaced victims. Trains departing for Poland loaded with women and children, some of which are wounded from acts of Russian war crimes desperately need our help!

We are raising funds to provide food, blankets, medicine, clothing, and the means to survive for those Ukrainian refugees seeking sanctuary in Poland. These are innocent people who fled their homes, running from atrocities leaving everything behind, many of which are skilled, hard-working, and educated like yourself.

We’re all reading the horror stories, the rapes, the indiscriminate killings, and mothers sending their children with strangers risking everything to cross the eastern border of Poland.

Ever since Putin attacked Ukraine on Feb 24th, I am proud to say that many Poles are helping on the ground, housing these women and children from key transportation centers. Refugees are allowed to work in Poland and children can attend school for free. This is truly a humanitarian crisis that no one country in the world can support alone, especially without significant support.

It blows the rational mind that in 2022, such inhumane actions can still happen to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Yet, we are encouraged by the united response of the western world, that fact, alone, is the best uplifting and cheerful news of this horrific situation. Yes, the World is united.

This fundraiser is unique. By participating and making any donation, you are taking a stand against the war, the war crimes, the killings of senior citizens and small children, and all other inhumane actions that are taking place in Ukraine.

I am personally proud and grateful, that my employer has agreed to help me in raising tax-deductible donations in the US for refugees from Ukraine arriving in Poland and will be equally matching donations of up to $10,000.00

Sincerely,

Jan- your neighbor next door in Point Richmond, California
